Perhaps it’s because my fingers are nearly glued to my computer all day, but I continue to be amazed at the number of artists out there who are not competent with today’s technology. Earth to artists: Technology is here to stay! It’s only going to get more sophisticated, so you’d better jump on the bandwagon NOW.
If you don’t know how to size and fix your digital images, take a class–NOW! What if a curator across the country emailed and asked to see more digital pictures and you weren’t able to send them? Or what if you sent them in the wrong size or format? That wouldn’t be very professional.
Same thing for your document files. Know how to attach and detach files with your email program. (I know, I’m probably preaching to the choir, but I come across the technologically-challenged each and every day.)
Buy a book, take a class, get a friend to walk you through it. But don’t put it off any longer. The parade will pass you by.
Find out about blogging and podcasting before the next new craze hits. (It’s probably already here and I don’t even know it.)
Try: Assistance for the Technologically Challenged (looks like they have some great links!)
Or fill up your iPod with the latest podcasts. (Great place to find out what a podcast really is, too.)
