Getting Back on Track

by Alyson Stanfield on November 5, 2005

Sometimes, the stars just seem to be conspiring against you.

As most of you know, I usually put forth the extra effort to plan my schedule and outline goals. I have my days organized and planned to help me move forward and build my business. But there are some things you just can’t plan for.

I had the two weeks leading up to our "Gain the Edge in Today’s Art Market" workshop wide open. I didn’t accept new clients and seemed to sail through to the big event.  Seemed so easy. I even took a couple of half-days to go hiking. Tell me, when, in the great scheme of the universe, that happens?!

Then came the crash. I got the POST-Workshop blues. Monday morning I awoke to mounds of paperwork and orders that needed to be processed, booked, and all of the other stuff that goes with that. Bills had to be paid. Thank-you notes written. And I couldn’t seem to get enough sleep.

Long story short: It took all week! But I was determined to face the ugly truth and put it behind me. I know that when I neglect things that I don’t want to do, they only get bigger and scarier.

I’m happy to say that I’m 99% complete with the follow-up for our workshop. And I no longer dread coming into the office. In fact, I’m more excited than ever. Like Brian Tracy advocates, "Eat That Frog!" It’s the only way to reach your goals.

The best thing about Brian Tracy’s book ( and there are many things I did like about his book) is the method of labeling all of your ” To Do ” list with the A,B,C,D, E. That has really helped me. Thank you Alyson for recommending that great book!!!
