Speaking Circles

I went to an amazing gathering last night. It’s called Speaking Circles and appears to be an excellent alternative to Toastmasters for those who fear speaking in public or just want to get better.

While I am certainly no expert, the emphasis is on connecting with everyone in the room–REALLY connecting–through eye contact. It’s all about being present and authentic rather than being perfect. As we all know, most communication is nonverbal.

Since I think this is so important to your art career, I encourage anyone who is afraid of speaking in public to check out Speaking Circles or Lee Glickstein’s book, Be Heard Now. (He’s the originator of Speaking Circles.)
