Saatchi Offers “Your Gallery” for All Artists

by Alyson Stanfield on May 3, 2006

Okay . . . so, this is kind of cool.

Charles Saatchi, one of the foremost collectors of contemporary art, has created a free (as far as I can tell) online gallery where any artist can upload images of his or her artwork. I confess I haven’t delved into it in detail, but at least it’s a good looking site affiliated with an established gallery and collector.

Read the CBC article.

The Saatchi site is a great site. I am one of the artists listed on the site and Will Paget from the PR firm of Paget Baker who work for Charles Saatchi has contacted me for interviews for this site. They are very hands on and Charles Saatchi even looks at the work of the artists himself. Apparently he really likes my tribute work. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me! Rock on Charles!

Hi, I thought you might like to know about Axis which has been providing a much better service than Saatchi ‘Your Gallery’ for the last 15 years in the UK. Axis is the leading online resource for the contemporary arts community and featured over 4,500 selected artists on its site. Check out our URL for more about all the great things we are up to and how you can submit your work for consideration http://www.axisweb.org

Danielle, Axis looks like a really great site especially if you are from the UK. If you are not (like me), the Saatchi site is better since it doesn’t have geographical restrictions. (At least that’s what I read on the Axis site – maybe I misunderstood it.)
