In this week’s Art Marketing Action newsletter, I write about nailing your prices and why pricing art is so difficult. If you really (REALLY) want to explore the complicated world of art pricing, here are a couple of not-so-easy reads for you:

Olav Velthuis, Talking Prices: Symbolic Meanings of Prices on the Market for Contemporary Art
Judith Benhamou-Huet, The Worth of Art: Pricing the Priceless
These books aren’t for the faint of heart, but are full of juicy insights into the art market--especially high-end galleries and auction houses--for those who stick with them.
100% of proceeds from my Amazon links go to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund, which is currently supporting artist-victims of the New England floods.

I picked up the book "The Worth of Art etc"
The inner workings of the hoi-poli in the art world is so very cynical. She talks about that it isn't about art anymore at that level but about money. It made me very angry and ready to shut my career down. But decided why let the manipulators win?. Life and this journey both are a gamble but so rewarding for the persistent and I don't mean money,I mean self realization. Nothing is wrong with making money doing what you love though. I think it is wrong to picture yourself as a starving artist. I am growing day by day and I try to promote myself in different ways. But one thing I am sure and confident about is my worth.
