Art business lessons the hard way

Mary Richmond shares her experience of having to close down the doors of her retail-space studio and the hard lessons she has learned.
(Read earlier entries, too.)

As I told her, it sounds like my first year in business. I had no idea what I was doing! Sometimes, you just have to learn things by doing and, sadly, not succeeding. But at least you learn. It’s only failure if you don’t learn through the process.

  • Mary, so sorry you are having to close shop/studio space. Thank you for sharing your lessons with us. Being a cautious type myself, I have just worked out of my home. That has a downside too – but for now, for me, it works well enough. ~ Diane Clancy

  • Thanks, Alyson, for the links and for the inclusion in your onging discussion here on your blog. Thanks, too, to Diane and all the folks that came on over to my blog to say hello, leave a comment or email me. I’ll be updating my own thoughts on my ongoing process later. Right now I’m still up to my armpits in boxes…..Thanks again!
