<strong>Flowers II</strong>

I need to tap into that spirit of joy, allowing and flow that is right there once I stop and focus on it. (she) announces that creativity coach, Eric Maisel, will be with Alyson in a free, 30-minute teleseminar next Wednesday, June 6.

What a great topic! Alyson, I can't be on the live seminar. Any chance that this will get put into a file so I (and others) can hear it? I sure hope so. I have followed his work for years and I find it very useful. ~ Diane Clancy www.dianeclancy.com/blog

Janet: Wow! Sounds like you have your plate full. That, too, was one of my favorite quotes. I had never before thought of overwhelm being associated with unhappiness or lack of meaning. I can't wait to find out more in the teleseminar. Roxanne: Eric's twelve incantations are, indeed, powerful. I've been trying to master a few of them and find myself coming up with my own. I'm looking forward to hearing him SPEAK on the subject as I think his voice will give even further clarity to the ideas.

"...The single idea of 'dropping a useful thought into a deep breath'.” This quote packs a powerful tool inside such a simple idea! I use breath awareness and refocuse techniques while practicing yoga and feel the actual physical transformation and clarity that takes place when you give space and focus to a thought. Now that I have a beautiful new son, I've started using this tool throughout my day to bring awareness and focus to everything - from simple chores to finding time in the studio - and the change in what I can get accomplished is amazing. Great timing on having Eric Maisel interviewed for your blog, Alyson! I just purchased his new book, Creativity for Life, as part of my arsenal in my ongoing adjustment to life as an artist mom. (and - thanks for the comment on my blog! I'm learning!)

"Overwhelm is generally a function of not being happy and of having to do too much just to keep meaning afloat" This is a great quote and really helped me re-frame times when I've felt overwhelmed.I think it's true that it's not the amount of things I have to do that makes me feel overwhelmed, it's how connected they feel and if I have a sense of my work moving forward and some positive response coming back from the energy I'm putting out. If I'm getting ready for an art exhibit, a comedy show, a book on press, a conference workshop...there's a tremendous sense of building excitement as I create something beautiful to offer my community, whatever size the offering or whatever size the community.
