For my technology-challenged readers

by Alyson Stanfield on May 6, 2007

I know so many artists who would just rather not have to deal with technology. I usually think of it as my mission to introduce new technology, as I did in my workshop Saturday. It’s not unusual when half the room doesn’t know what a blog is or what it has to do with their art career.

Just imagine what it was like a long time ago when the first IT professional took up shop . . .

This video is hilarious and so true. You hit the nail on the head with people who resist technology. I was just having this frustrating conversation last week with several women I am in an art club with. This club is 117 years old and consists of women interested in all forms of the arts (both lay people and artists). Two of the women, one a business woman, the other an artist, expressed aggravation at people assuming that ALL people should have email and check it at least once a day. My mouth hung open. One of these women even has a website, but doesn’t want to look at email more than once a week! I can’t imagine your frustration, Alyson, with having to deal with this on a regular basis.

Very fun, and so true how we seem to resist change of any kind. Thanks for making me laugh!
