Place an ad for your art on your car?

by Alyson Stanfield on July 10, 2007

Barbara Rush, who is currently in my Promote Your Art with Confidence class, was inspired! She wrote:

Attached is a photo of my car with my "ad" on the tire cover. The people at the sign shop (Fast Signs) liked my idea so much that they photographed it and are placing it in their idea book. They also asked for a stack of my business cards so they could hand them out to any interested customers!

It came to a grand total of $79.55 which included removing the Honda logo sticker and placing my art on the wheel cover. It may cost more if you need the sign company to do any design work. I did not place my phone number on the ad as my main idea was to drive people to my website.

Dear Barbara Rush, first, it looks beautiful, second my hubby thinks it’s a Zorse? the new zebra horse breed? third, I laugh because after a previous ArtBizBlog post I ordered a GroveCanada.Tv galaxy-look bumper sticker & we have been scooting around in our Pontiac Firefly with a similar spirit…cheers & know you are not alone…

I would definitely say that this is promoting your art with confidence! I absolutely love this idea, and having the artwork displayed on the back of the car (and the wheelcover) is the perfect spot!

A novel advertising idea

Thanks to Alyson Stanfield for sharing this very novel advertising idea. Obviously, this would work best for 2-D artists rather than craft artists. But it’s a great starting point to think about unusual locations to expose people to your work!

A terrific idea!My Subaru doesn’t have an “outside” spare tire, but I have a personalized license plate, ART MKR.

It sounds like Barbara is onto something here!

Hey Sari! You can tell your husband that’s it’s not a Zorse…LOL. Just a horse of a different color…and composition! :) My contemporary horse paintings are inspired by cubism and work on capturing the movement of horses with bold geometric shapes. And thank you for your kind words Kathy, JAbott, and Nancy! Hey Alyson it looks like another website picked it up I can see now why you are telling us to start bloggin in your awesome Promote your Art with Confidence class! I really love the class! Thanks, Barbara

I’ve used window decals for my advertisment of Crosswinds Art Studio. It’s placed across the lower back of my pickup window. I also ordered a few wolf prints to go with it – since I do pet portraits, too. People ask lots of questions, and they do go to see the website. It works to get attention!
