Thanks for sharing Alyson! I think it’s also good to encourage people to start slow. It can be daunting to look at the price of original art, but a collection doesn’t have to be built overnight. A while ago, I made a goal to buy at least one quality piece of original art per year, and by doing that I’m slowly building a collection I love!! My budget may vary from year to year, but I always make sure I buy something I love. Blogging has opened up a new market too – I’ve bought pieces from some artists that I never could have afforded from galleries – the daily painting trend is great for beginning collectors.
