All: You're welcome! Your presence here enriches this blog. Joe: You have my book, right? Check out the chapter on "Follow up". Lots of examples there. But as far as thanking for buying your work, no need to say "thank you for buying my work." Instead, try "Thank you for giving my work a good home. . . . "

I have been reading, enjoying, and learning from your blogs and newsletters for a couple of years - and do thank you for your great generosity. I feel like I've learned a lot - and a couple of friends and I took advantage of your guidelines to set up a marketing support group - it was really a terrific experience! I heard an idea on NPR a couple of months ago about helping children to learn to be aware of and practice gratitude - simply to ask them at the end of each day what they were most thankful for - and it should not be a repeat of the day before. Thought it was a great idea.

Hi Alyson, Great post and valuable advice in these turbulent times. I ordered your book last March and since then have started a blog, sent out postcards of my art, had my first show and followed up by sending thank you notes to all the people who purchased my art and attended my show. You certainly gave me a blueprint for my art career and I'm extremely grateful.

Thank you. I read that in my email, and it is really good advice to live by. First thing, I'm going to do is be more friendlier at stores.

THANK YOU ALYSON!!! You do not know how much you have helped me in my journey, but you are one of the main reasons I am where I am at the moment. If it wasn't for your knowledge, advice and kindness in sharing I would be still floundering. You have been listed many, many times in my gratitude journal. Happy Thanksgiving.

I feel a little silly asking this, but do you have any tips for what to write in a thank you note? I have trouble coming up with something that doesn't sound as pathetic as "thank you for buying my painting" - I don't actually write those words but it usually boils down to that and I struggle to write something more interesting.

Hi Alyson Let me be the first to say a big THANK YOU to you who provides us artists with a multitude of gifts every week. Your generosity is heart warming and a true example of ‘the more you give, the more you get’. I had a similar article on my blog titled ‘Our attitude colours our world’ where I suggest, like you, writing a list of things to be thankful for. It’s a different take on the same subject. Here’s the link to it http://edpart.typepad.com/ed_p_artist_with_spirit/2008/09/our-attitude-co.html Again Thank You for all your kindness to us in your community. Lots of Love *Ed P
