It’s been a couple of years since I posted a list of software for storing your inventory and contact lists. Not a lot has changed, but it’s time to post an update.
From the resources section of I’d Rather Be in the Studio:
- Flick! (Mac & PC)*
- eArtist (Mac & PC)*
- Working Artist (PC only)
- GYST (Mac & PC)
- Artist’s Butler (Mac & PC)
- Art & Craft Business Organizer (PC only)
- Bento (Mac only)* – NOTE: Bento is not an art management platform, but a general database. Therefore, it requires formatting–unlike the others here. Because of this, you can use it for all of your database needs-not just for your art inventory or contacts. Also, because of this, you can personalize it and make it look however you like. And there are templates available.
Based on feedback I receive from artists, I speculate that those marked with a * are still the top three inventory-mailing list databases. They will keep track of your inventory, sales, and contacts.
I’m sure there are new players every day. If you have one to offer to this list, please leave it in a comment.
If you use one of these programs, help other artists out by telling why you like it and what you wish it did better/differently.
