Love you work, Di! How did your London trip go? I am just reentering the artworld. It's a bit different place than it was 20 yrs ago! When you have time, please, check out my website and let me know what you think of it and my work.
One thing I need to do is get conversion charts for measurements (of artwork) and prices. Anyone know of these that can be added to websites?
Di, do you sell your art via the web? If yes, what payment methods do you find work best, especially for international sales?
Will check back with you. Have a great day...in the studio!

Rick,
How right you are, I thought I had found the perfect soloution with the embed tool along with a couple of plugins, on wordpress, seemed to be doing the job. Alas, I was wrong again.

I have reduced the resolution on most picture's so that even a screen shot leaves them with a poor picture. Hate this solution. This is a solution recomended by Fine Art America. Between resolution and going back to watermarks seems to be the only solution I can find.

Someone could make a fortune with a protection program that works.

Tim, I respectfully disagree with your statement "..a solution for protecting the art.". If it is on the web then it is fair game to easily be "borrowed" for alternative use on the web. A simple screen capture of the image pulls the image without any attached sidecars,files,attachments,re-directs, and anything that is riding with the original file.
If it is on-line then it can be used by others. There is no method that is foolproof.

I built an Artist website for a friend and finally came up with a solution for protecting the art.
Imbed Pictures is a web tool that allows someone to use your pictures but no matter where they end up they click back to the artist website.

Re: Copyright on top of your photos.
Alyson,
When I set up my web-site I researched out a number web of artists who did just that put a huge copyright sign over the images. I came up with what worked for me. I added my name, and copyright and date on the bottom of each photo in either a white or black. I did not want to mess with the rest of the photo. The way this works is if someone would like to "copy" my work they still have all of the information about my work, my name and my web-site on the bottom of the actual jpg. One can still enjoy the painting but you can see that I am the artist.
Thanks for your time and all of the wonderful ideas you continue to bring!

Hi, I've just been sent this for the first time and trying to find my way through to information that I need. I'm a West Ausie mid career artist, exhibiting nationally in Australia and I'm going to London in two weeks to see my son and hopefully get into some galleries. I have emailed them all a purpose made emails, addressed individually and inserted reasonable size images of work and CV + Artist statment and asked for a meeting. I have only had five replies so far, can you suggest anything else I can try. I have reasonable sucess in Australia and manage to feed the family, however I would like to get some International credability as it really helps push your career and prices up here in Australia.

Should I do follow up calls this week to the galleries? Should I take rolled up originals and hope to walk in the door and just show them,??

I get the impression that they would not accept unsolicited presentations.

Thanks
