Love Your List

The people who give you their postal and email addresses are your secret marketing weapon. They have trusted you with their information and said they want to hear from you.
They’re your Valentines!
Pull an arrow from your quiver and aim some love in their direction.

Honor Your Commitment

Do what you said you were going to do when they signed up.
If you promised to send a monthly newsletter, DO IT!
If you promised to send invitations, DO IT!
If you promised not to share their addresses, DON’T DO IT!

Listen

Everyone appreciates being heard. What are your very special people saying to you?

Care

I recently left a company that delivered this newsletter for 8.5 years. I gave them a lot of money.
When my decision was made, I called a number, asked the nice man on the other end of the line to cancel, and they said Goodbye. He asked me no questions, and I never heard from them again.
I think you can understand why I left their service.
I know some of my customers have slipped through the cracks, but we are putting tools in place at Art Biz Coach so that we can do a better job of customer relationship management.
Who is on your list that needs to be reminded you still care?

Share Your News

Tell the people on your list what’s going on. Keeping news to yourself doesn’t serve you, and it certainly doesn’t please the people who asked to hear from you.
They need to know about your achievements and events. That’s why they signed up, so don’t hold back!
The people on your list also want to know about you, and you will form stronger connections if you’re a little personal in your messages.

Be Generous

Generosity is contagious and rewarded.
You not only feel good when you’re extra generous with people, but you also reap gifts in return that cannot be measured.
It’s generous these days to write a Thank You note on a card with an image of your art on the front.
For special people, you can send small gifts. I can’t reward the thousands of people on this list with small gifts in the mail, but I do frequently offer useful downloads. Which brings me to . . .
How are you aiming love at your list?

  1. Love the new website Alyson 🙂 I have been sending out regular monthly newsletters but I need to start sending out more info about all the happenings so I am going to take your advice and do that 🙂

  2. I love this! It is clean and friendly and more you than the other one. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can bet they all love it too. All the things you do for everyone are being noticed!
Thanks so much for being our fantastic caring friend and for sharing so easily. I have to go listen to an audio interview now and check out the big green envelope. I love envelopes! They carry sweet messages. Bye!
PS Happy that you left that company! Good decision.

  3. Hi Alyson.
I’ve been following your newsletter since 2010 and think that you’ve made me change changes my life and art career in many wonderful ways. Thanks a lot for that!!
The new web design is much focused and straight forward…and as advertising people always say: less is more!!

  4. Alyson, this is great advice for Artists and anyone in business. I love that bring things back to the basics. It is so easy to get caught up in the daily responsibilities and quest for continued success. It’s important that we don’t forget about those who already follow us and are interested in what we do.
    Great reminder. Thanks!
